Masters in Counseling and Art Therapy

Intake/ Senior Counselor/ Art Therapist”

"Alicia is an Intake Specialist, Senior Counselor, and Art Therapist at Above and Beyond. She received her Bachelor's in Fine Art degree from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2011 and her dual Master's in Counseling and Art Therapy degrees from Adler University, Chicago, in 2018. Alicia has been active in many grassroots organizations around the city that focus on worker's and tenant's rights, political activism, and community welfare. Additionally, she has worked with after school organizations to offer art classes to at-risk youth in Chicago.

Throughout Alicia's childhood, her father battled alcohol addiction, and later, many of her friends succumbed to opioid addiction. Though her father and many friends were able to overcome their addictions, some did not. Alicia decided to merge her passion for art and social justice by pursuing her counseling and art therapy degrees in order to continue to help those in need. Alicia first came to Above and Beyond as a clinical intern and hopes to offer a sense of nonjudgment and compassion to everyone she meets."
