Chester miles got married when he was 20 years old, he had five beautiful girls and he worked at several jobs. The first job he ever had was Stuart Sales and he was also a butcher for Best Kosher. He left there and became a diesel mechanic for Greyhound. Shorty after that he went to the US Postal Service where he became a mail carrier. Chester became addicted to the drug “Acid” and alcohol. Chester’s third daughter passed away at 21 years old while giving birth which only led to fueling his addiction. His first treatment was in 1978 at Lakeshore Hospital. He relapsed shortly after that and went back into treatment in 1989 which led him on his journey to sobriety. Today Chester has 27 years of solid sobriety. During his journey he attended Malcom X, Harold Washington, and Wright colleges where he was able to obtain his CADC. He became a counselor for The Salvation Army and Cathedral Shelter in 1990. Chester also worked as a counselor at Loretta Hospital as a counselor. Today Chester has 5 grandkids and 2 great grandkids. He has been married to his wife for 51 years. He retired from the Salvation Army and Cathedral Shelter. He is now happily working at Above and Beyond counseling and facilitating groups.
